Cannot play DVR Recordings on Amazon Fire Stick 4K

Everything records fine from OTA HDHomeRun; I can play these recordings on WebPlayer, PC and Android phone.

When I try to play DVR’ed shows on Amazon Fire Stick 4K, I get "“An error occured while attempting to play this video. Please try restarting both the Plex Media Server and this app.” Tried these two suggestions - nothing helped. Recordings show up as 1080i h.264 on the pre-play screen.

All other library content plays fine (h264, h265 etc.). Also if i turn off “Use new player” in settings on the FireStick’s plex app - recordings start playing.

How do i use the new player on the amazon fire stick to play back DVRed recordings?

Just forget about it because Plex has no intentions in fixing their bugs. I’ve got a $120 Fire Cube 2nd generation that I can’t even use to play 4K movies. It’s been well over a week and no signs of any updates to fix this.

So it’s a known/common issue with fire-tv?

I would not say it is a common issue but a current one that is going nearly two weeks.
