Hi forum! I have Plexamp 4.10.1 on my Android as well the latest version of Plex player and Plex Server Version 1.40.2.8395. I have been using these with my lovely Kef LS50 Wireless II speakers (they have Google Cast built in) for a couple of years. Just in the last week, both players have lost the ability to play to those speakers. I understand that Kef has recently updated the speakers to use Google Cast 2.0. While I cannot cast to the Kefs with Plex or Plexamp on Android and Plex on PC, I can cast to them using YouTube (on Android or PC), Kef Connect, MediaMonkey on Android and the Google Home cast option. It is starting to look as though the only products that cannot cast to the Kefs are Plex ones. Here are some typical steps to reproduce. 1. Open Plexamp or one of the other products mentioned. 2. Select the cast icon. 3. See that the Kef speaker is on the list and available for casting. 4. Select the Kef speaker. 5. Hear a sound and see the cast icon go full indicating successful casting connection. 6. Try to play something. 7. Plexamp shows blank screen without playing any sound. 8. Hit back and see that the speaker connection may be lost.
An interesting contrast is PowerAmp. That appears to start playing, but the song progress graphic jerks back and forth as if attempting unsuccessfully to initiate playback.
I downloaded MediaMonkey and it too could both see and play to the Kefs via Google Cast protocol.
I am drawing reluctantly to the conclusion that there is an incompatibility between Plex products and the Google Cast protocol present in the Kef speakers.
I seem to have a good alternative to Plexamp for casting to my Kef LS50 Wireless II active speakers. I am now using Symfonium. It has the ability to see my Plex server and to cast to the Kefs using either UPnP or Google Cast (Chromecast) protocol. That will have to do for the time being, until Plex gets around to fixing Plexamp. Another alternative is BubbleUPnP. It can cast to the Kefs, but is not directly compatible with Plex (need to enable Plex DLNA server) and does not have nice UI features like Symfonium.
Same problem with KEF (but LSX II for me). I’ve been using Google Home to cast audio from Plexamp, but it would be great if the problem with Plexamp could be resolved.

Does anyone know if the Plex people read these forums or if there is any process by which to contact them? Just having uses yakking among themselves is not going to get anywhere.
The only solution that has worked for me is to switch to the Symfonium player. Symfonium works well with the Plex server and casts to the Kefs via either Chromecast of UPnP.
@michaelglasson I spent a few hours with Symfonium after seeing your post. I had no idea an app this well developed existed for accessing PLEX music library. Casting worked flawlessly.
