Cannot Play to Sonos From Plex, But Can See Plex in Sonos App

Server Version#: 1.15.4
Player Version#: All apps current

New Plex Pass user, pardon please if this has been covered but a search didn’t reveal anything. We have two residences, and Sonos speakers in both places.

I have the Plex web server on a QNAP NAS at our first residence, and just updated it. The Plex desktop app shows Plex For Sonos v3.0 under Authorized Devices. But when I click Select Player, Sonos does not appear as an option.

When I’m at our second residence and using iOS apps, the Plex app definitely sees our full music library from the NAS at the first residence. But it won’t show the Sonos players at our second residence.

When we’re at our first residence, the Sonos app sees everything in the Plex library and can play that material with no problem. But I cannot go in the other direction: can’t play from Plex directly to Sonos.

Any thoughts? Thanks very much.

Hey there, welcome to the Plexiverse!

It sounds like you’ve added Plex to the Sonos apps, but have not yet linked the Plex app to your Sonos account. I suspect that you’ll find that you can play from the Sonos app at both residences.

To play directly from the Plex app to Sonos, while on the same wifi network as a Sonos speaker, hit the Cast icon, and there should be an option for Sonos prompting to link your account. Once linked, you should see the individual Sonos groups appear in as Cast options.
