I paid for a one-time activation on my old iPad and I recently upgraded to a new one. When trying to restore purchases it said that they were made with a different Apple ID. However, going through my previous purchases linked to the Apple ID, I was able to find the payment I made for $6.99 to activate the iOS app in January 2018. Would anybody please be able to help solve this issue?
If you purchased the activation under a different Apple ID, the activation cannot be transferred to another Apple ID. You need to use the old Apple ID or you will have to repurchase the activation again.
I used the same Apple ID to check my purchases and try activating Plex. I’m not sure why it wasn’t working. Would it be possible to manually check the Plex purchase history linked to my Apple ID? I have the purchase proof of the app.
Unfortunately, no. iTunes doesn’t share purchase info with Plex. The best I can do is look in your iOS logs to see if the purchase is found, but I can’t tell what Apple ID it checked. If you provide your log I can check that much.
There are a few things that could affect not finding the purchase:
- phone is jail broken
- app was installed with the correct Apple ID but then updated using another Apple ID (i.e. you changed appstore accounts)
Thank you for your assistance! I double checked your points, and I realized the app had initially been installed with a different ID on the iPad, and even after signing out of it and using my ID, the purchase was not restoring. I deleted the app and redownloaded it after changing IDs and it worked.
As mentioned it has to be installed using the correct Apple ID. Glad you got it working.
