Cannot set up library

I have read 1,396 articles on how to setup my library and not one of them shows me anything that my screen is displaying.

When I am on the Home screen, and after having launched Plex Media Server, all I see on the left side is

Watchlist
Live TV
Movies and Shows
Rentals
Discover

Nothing on any of these headings shows me a library

When I click on the Tool/Settings all I see on the left side is

Account
Online Media Sources
Authorized Devices
Watchlist
Webhooks
Streaming Devices
Plex Home
Manage Library Access
Privacy
PLEX WEB
General
Debug
Player

I have installed. deleted. installed deleted restarted uninstalled reinstalled 167,000 times and created 5 new accounts and each one is a dead end.

All I want to do is use Plex, but it is becoming likely I am out of luck

Please start by telling on which kind of device you have installed Plex Server.

I have installed it on a Samsung Ultrabook, laptop Windows 10 Version 22H2.

My library is on a Western Digital 8TB external hard drive connected to the laptop via USB

Do you see plex running down in the system tray? if so does http://127.0.0.1:32400/web show something different than you normally see?

It is running in the system tray.

When I go to www.plex.tv, there is the Meet Your Concierge welcom. Using the 3 bars in the upper right I see the account info and Open Plex.

When I click on Open Plex I get the Home page and on the left side of the screen I see

Live TV
Movies & Show
Rentals
Discover

Nothing more shows that allows me to add my media, a library, a server, etc…

Please note that I pointed you to http://127.0.0.1:32400/web (the direct URL for your server) and not https://app.plex.tv If your server is unclaimed (which I suspect it is) you need to log into it first.

When I click on the URL you provided, I am directed to a search page that offers support, forums and reddit. It does not direct me to my server.

Forgive my ignorance if I am misunderstanding you. I am logged into my network. Plex is running. The hard drive is connected to the laptop but there is nothing that shows me how to claim my server.

Sounds like Plex isnt running, can you post your server logs.

I am having the same issue. When I click on the plus to add files or folders. I get the screen to download plex. I have went into my Western digital EX 2 Ultra downloaded the app and configured it. In the plex server. The option to add does not appear. I really want to use plex. But I need help. This is my third posting of my problem. Csn somebody please help me darney53@msn.com

I have no idea how to do that.

I appreciate the help you provided so far, but if I cannot just install it, log in, run and then use it, it is of no value to me.

@calvinsingleton Please start your own thread with a copy of your server logs

@chicag292 If you are unwilling to do any troubleshooting why did you post on the forums? Your server logs <= (see yellow link with instructions) should provide some insight to what is happening and allow us to fix why your server isnt running.

Is it possible your clients aren’t pointing to the correct Plex Server? You mentioned you have installed it multiple times. I know in the past when I have had to reinstall Plex on a new server it takes a little effort to redirect the clients etc.
