Cannot upgrade synology plex server for past couple months

Hey, I did NOT say it was. What I said is that it should be mentioned, where you mention about issues with Safari downloads, that you should also NOT rely on Safari for the manual installs. I was following the instructions stated IN THIS THREAD to download and verify checksums. I did all that. I saw the comments that Safari may not work. When I mentioned the issue was doing the manual install via Safari, and that doing it over Firefox worked, that was the 1st time you said anything like “This is also known to happen, but it is much more rare than the download issue.”. Again, all I am saying is to please state clearly where you mention to not use Safari for download to ALSO not use it for the manual install. I don’t see how that is placing any blame on Plex, or you, I am just trying to ensure customers have this VITAL information to proceed!

Hi ChuckPa

I uninstalled the package and rebooted my NAS. When It came back up I did a mannual install using the file I downloaded from my plex server page, PlexMediaServer-1.21.4.4079-1b7748a7b-armv7hf_neon.spk

It failed so I searched for Plex in the package center under all packages and installed from there. I believe that version is 1.18.5.2309-f5213a238. That installed ok but when I went to install that latest version again it failed.

Should I download the package from plex.tv/media-server-downloads/ ?

I’ve attached me log files as well.Logs.zip (4.7 MB)

Thanks

If your Manual Install is failing, that means the download from Plex.tv was either the wrong one for your NAS or you are having browser problems (known to happen) which is usually remedied by using a different browser.

https://plex.tv/downloads

Select Synology
Select the package appropriate for your NAS which is the ARM7hf_neon package

Thanks ChuckPa

I had to use the Brave browser to download the spk file and install it on the NAS. The file might have been good, downloaded from Edge. Maybe it was the installation that had to be done on another browser. Not sure, but it worked.

Thanks again
