Server Version#:1.19.5.3112-b23ab3896
Player Version#: N/A
Current DSM Version : DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 3 (plex wouldn’t update on last version either)
Synology DS1019+
All I’ve gotten for the past month + when trying to manually upgrade my plex server is : “The operation failed. Please login to DSM and retry.”
Haven’t changed any settings on my synology that I can think of.
What logs / data can I provide to help debug whats going on here folks ? Would really appreciate it. Happy to get nitty gritty to get you the data you need to debug.
If I uninstall the plex server package on my snology will I lose any of my customizations for the plex media server i.e. libraries / user config etc. or are those all cloud persisted and restored upon reinstallation ?
Thanks!
Chris
I did have to actually restart my synology to get the upgrade to take, even after uninstalling PLEX first. Would be great not to have to restart my NAS to upgrade plex. Plex upgrades are currently the only thing causing that to happen, not too popular on a server device to have to restart…
I’m having the same issues with the last two versions, including the one dated Feb 8th. After they would not work I uninstalled Plex and tried to install the version that is on the Synology servers and then update, and that did not work either. So I uninstalled again and tried again with the latest, Feb 8th version. No go. I have enclosed my logs. I am now in a position where I have no Plex working…
When I tried to download via Firefox, I had not been logged into the Plex site, so it gave me the Feb 6th version. The checksums for that verified (those were the ones I displayed earlier) and it generated the error I mentioned. After you said the checksums did not match, I logged into plex.tv in Firefox and was then presented with the PMS download from Feb 8. The checksums verified. I did an install. Got the same error.
AHA!!!
While I was downloading with Firefox, I kept on trying to install the update via Safari. Just tried to install it via Firefox and it WORKED!
So, you need to mention that the issues are not just with DOWNLOADS (and the Safari download actually worked for me, with verified checksums) but also with UPLOADS - you cannot do a manual install in Safari and have it reliably work!
Must be an issue with the current version of Safari. Just updated my macOS last week, that may explain the upload issues Again, surprised because the download checksums matched!
I have ONLY ever used Safari to manage the Synology. I have been doing it like so for the 8 months I have owned a synology. Through a DSM 5>6 upgrade. I went from macOS X 10.5.x to macOS Big Sur (11, 11.01, 11.1, and now 11.2). With 11.2 uploads is the 1st time I have seen any issues with Safari. My Mac is working just fine. I am assuming there MIGHT be an issue in the latest Safari that contributed, but, nowhere in any of these support statements did I see anything about ALSO using something other than Safari for the manual package install. That should be stated clearly in all places where you recommend for us to not use those for download.
