Server Version#:1.18.4.2171ac2afe5f8
Player Version#:4.18.1
noticed the other day that I couldn’t access music from my synology nas plex server from roku. Did all updates available, rebooted nas, desktop, logged out of plex and back in, Plex server says it’s running in package manager on nas, but I can’t access it from desktop or android or roku. I have a 2nd server running on my desktop pc which comes up fine, but in the plex web app the synology server says unavailable. On my android phone it says, “Offline.” The nas is working fine with everything else. I updated permissions as per https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-media-server-security-changes-for-synology-users/409995, which explains about the plex user being downgraded from admin. Still no luck. Just to be clear. I’m on the same network, same subnet, no vpn, no proxy. It worked for the last several years, though it could have been down since May and I might not have noticed. I’m pretty savvy, but I think I’m stuck. Help!
Also noticed that when I reboot the nas, the server is not starting automatically. I have to go and start it manually.
If Plex is installed it should launch automatically when the Synology NAS is booted. Doess the Plex Server stopping after say 2 mins on its own. I had a similar issue once I installed the latest build 1.18.4.2171. On a post Plex Server Crashing on Synology NAS.
As far as I can tell, Plex is not stopping on its own after running for 2 minutes. It just doesn’t start automatically upon reboot. I’m wondering if something is corrupted. Doing a full uninstall, reboot, reinstall right now.—edit—that seems to have cured it. Thanks all.
If the app is enabled (running) at reboot time, it will restart.
The only reason it won’t is if DSM has a problem or the Plex share doesn’t allow Syno user plex access to it it. (User plex is unprivileged now on Synology to increase safety of media and security). Access to the Plex share can be checked in Control Panel - Shared Folders - Plex (EDIT) - Permissions tab. It should have full control.
Right clicking on the share in the left page of File Station and bringing up ‘Properties’ should show that user plex owns it.
i’m having an issue with my Plex server in my Synology NAS DS918+ which i hope u can help me solve it. i installed PlexMediaServer-1.18.3.2156-349e9837e-x86_64.
However when i launch the Plex app in my synology, a new web browser open and states " This site can’t be reached. 192.168.X.X took too long to respond."
I tried to configure the port forwarding in my router but i cant seem to fix this issue.
Port forwarding is not required here since you are trying to launch the PLEX user interface from your computer on the local network right ?
Is the Plex “running” ? In the DSM Package Manager, can you see PLEX is in the “running”’ state ? It could also just say “Stopped” so better check…
If Plex/web loads immediately (directly from) the Synology when using either the button in package center or http://ip.addr.of.syno:32400/web) then PMS is running.
Go to Control Panel - Shared Folders - EDIT the Plex share - Permissions tab - add your username as R/W permission and save
Now open File Station -> Plex share.
Navigate down into Library until you see Logs
Right-click Logs then Compress to Logs.zip
