Can't Access Plex Server...remote or local

Hey there,

I’ve had Plex up and running for a number of years with no problems on my old iMac. After the last Plex update, I no longer have access to my server–full disclosure: I ran a couple of other updates on this old machine (not even sure what they were).

In short, I have no idea what I am doing. I can log into plex using:

https://app.plex.tv/desktop

…but have no access to my server, no way to access my media, etc. “Server” does not show up under settings, etc.

When I try to open from the app itself (http://127.0.0.1:32400/web) I get nothing…page can’t load.

Is it a port thing? Maybe something got blocked during an update? Really, I have no idea what I am doing or what any of that really even means…but, I can follow instructions if someone is willing to point the way.

Any help would be much appreciated. I’ve searched the forums, looked at videos, and it seems most of the problems people have are about remote access…while I am also in the category, I don’t even have access when I am on the same network.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance…

I have same problem for 2 days…
I killed Plex Media Server with Activity Monitor since Quit button from icon within status bar didn’t want to.
Then download last version, delete plex Media Server Application and install it over.
Now TV can access…
Still have a problem by now… cannot log in localhost… it says “Error occurs…”

One more update…server is stuck in “starting” mode…never moves past that point.

Would you be using Fios Internet by any chance?

Also there are reports of the iTunes plugin if enabled causing serious PMS issues.

Nope. Not using Fios.

hmmm…that might be the issue? Is there a workaround?

@SE56 If it is the itunes plugin issue, I have no way to access my server settings to disable it…suggestions? I read in another thread that it might make sense to download an older version…is that the best route?

Yep, I have read the same, pre 1.18.7

I’m having the same problem. I’ve been running Plex on my iMac for years without any real issues and now with the latest update the server can’t connect to my mac. Anybody figure out a fix?

Thanks!

Roll back to pre 1.18.7

That was going to be my next question. How do I roll back?

From the go menu holding down the option Key Copy installer zip to desktop, unpack and Drop app in applications

I’ll try that. Thanks so much!

Must be from go Menu, I have my Library tagged to the side menu. Which you probably don’t.

I’m not sure which file exactly to drop in applications?

@SE56 Thanks for the help and the walkthrough…installed an older version using your guided steps and my server is back up and running.

I guess I just hold off on updating…for…like…ever?

Thanks for the help.

No need to do that, just stay as updated as you feel comfortable or need. Plex is still evolving and sometimes sh.t happens. I’m always here like many others

Cheers.

Thanks again for the help.

I am having what sounds like the same problem. Is there older versions somewhere to be had. This is really driving me crazy as I just used it 3 days ago and now its not working
