Can't get Plex Media Server back on

Server Version#:
Player Version#:

hello all. I have Plex running on a 2012 iMac. For the
past week my server has been unavailable, then I would restart the computer and it would come on again. This morning I had a system update on the computer that wouldn’t finish because Plex was on. I did the update restarted the computer and Plex would not come back on. I removed the Plex Media server from devices, but can’t get it back on. Please help.

when I open authorized devices, I no longer see my Plex media server. I signed out and signed back in but I still don’t see it

Are you accessing it through the bundled web app?
e.g. by opening http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in a browser on that iMac

If you’ve signed the PMS out, you cannot access it from https://app.plex.tv/desktop or other Plex apps (until you’ve signed the server back into your account)

how do I do that?

  1. Open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in your browser – if you’re trying to do this from a different machine, use http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web instead
  2. Go to Settings > [Server Name] > General
  3. Click the Sign In button in the center of that settings page

I went to settings. the general page comes up. nothing saying server name or asking me to sign in.

In that case you might want to check out this procedure

ok, I’ll check this out

Still not working I’m going to start all over again
