Can't access shared library because no remote access

I have so little understanding of how any of this works I can barely formulate the question. Please be kind to me.

I use Plex on two TVs (one smart TV one with Amazon fire stick) to watch movies from a library a friend has shared with me. This all went fine until I moved house and the wi-fi kept dropping out. I’ve set up a Tenda Nova wi-fi extender and since then no Plex.

My server seems to be fine, the server of the friend whose library I use seems not to be accessible. Remote access is “not available outside your network” . I can only think it’s the wi-fi extender that has caused this but I have literally zero idea where to begin to put it right.

Please help! And if replying, please do so as though you were talking to a 3 year old as I’m really struggling here.

Thank you!

I don’t think there is anything you can do here. The issue lies with your friend’s server.

Ah, that’s quite reassuring. I wondered if that was the case, but it seemed too much of a coincidence that I’d been changing the wi-fi stuff so I was a bit alarmed that something wasn’t compatible with the new set-up. Friend is away just now, but presumably he’ll sort things out once he’s back home.
