Can't add a library if I select "Films" but can if I select "Other Videos"

I’ve just installed a PLEX server on my Synology NAS and it seems to be working well. I can watch media files on my TV.

One thing that has me confused though is that when I go to add a library to the PLEX server and select “Film” for the type and type in the path to the media it says “Your changes could not be saved” but if I do the exact same thing again with exactly the same file path but instead select “Other Videos” PLEX will add the library without any problems. I mean this isn’t a major issue as I can still watch the media files on my TV but it doesn’t show any downloaded metadata from the internet which is a little bit annoying.

Has anyone come across this issue before? I’m a bit confused as PLEX seems to be working perfectly apart from this.

Oh, and yes I have followed the Film naming guidelines set out by PLEX for this particular media folder.

Hopefully you can get that squared away so you can get all your metadata for your content as that is a major piece of the experience.

I’ve just checked permissions for my Plex folder and the Plex user has full control (all permissions checked in custom permissions), the admin user has full read / write permissions.

The only difference to the folder structure in question 5 on my set up is that I have /Plex/Library/Movies and Movies is the folder I am trying to add as a Film library. Underneath the Movies folder is just my films in MKV format using the Plex naming guide convention “Movie Name (Year)” without the quotes.

Please never put media in the Plex share. That share is intended exclusively for PMS use. That’s why I don’t grant access to it by default

Create a Movies share (e.g. /Movies) and put your media there.
