I was using plex for a few years with no problems. A few days ago I went to watch a movie and I got an error (network error 1001 I believe) and found that it was most likely a bad update (which it had updated a few days prior) and that the fix is to reinstall plex. I uninstalled and reinstalled and now my server doesn’t show up at all. On the computer when I go into plex it just says I don’t have any media but if i click to add some it takes me to the plex page and says to download the plex media server, which I already have. I’ve done the uninstall/reboot/reinstall thing probably 10 times as well as logging off and back on. I* even installed a previous version from July that worked fine but its the same. Any suggestions on how to fix this? If you could explain any steps like I am 5 it would be greatly appreciated.

There’s a procedure to reclaim your server if you got yourself locked out
Yes I am, I only have one plex account so no chance I logged into the wrong one.
It’ll be enough if you reset your account password, checking the option to sign-out all devices.
Try connecting to your server using its local IP address (e.g. http://127.0.0.1:32400/web if you’re on the same machine, http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web otherwise).
If the server has been signed out, this should still bring up the server’s settings and allow you to reclaim it (Settings > [Server Name] > General → Sign-In)
Not a clue what changed but after about the 100th reinstall it just loaded my server. It’s not wanting to play anything but at least its loading now lol
Same going on here. Despite using the server to open a window to Plex ~(Chrome) I cannot add my media. Every time it asks me to “Get Plex Media Server”. Frustrating!

Double-check the browser is accessing your server through its local IP address (e.g. http://127.0.0.1:32400/web if you’re on the same machine or http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web otherwise).

Do you get to see the server options in
Settings? If you don’t, take a look at the procedure from above (“Why am I locked out of Server Settings and how do I get in?”)
