Can't cast to chromecast 2nd generation from Android device

Chromecast 2nd gen version: 1.56.275994

I can see the Chromecast when I open the device list, but it loads for a few seconds before closing whenever I try to cast. For this specific Chromecast device, I can cast content from YouTube just fine, but I can’t cast anything from Plex.

I found this post on Reddit where someone recently had the same issue as I did. Do people still have problems connecting to Chromecast after 10 months?
