Progresswheel gets to the bottom and then the Chromecast disconnects and makes a soft reboot on all chromecasts, was working without issue until today on all devices.
All devices play streams without issue, only casting fails.
Tried reinstalling the apps, tried reseting chromecasts.
Same issue, all chrome cast devices from the house are affected.
Same issue here, on multiple different Chromecast devices, and it also started happening when casting to the android tv directly.
Same problem for me. Tried on two chromecasts from two iPhones and an android phone

Sounds like a pushed update to the Chromecast app might have been faulty? If it started about the same time for everyone, seems to be the most likely.

Chromecast 4k. Worked fine this morning. And I didn’t update the android app I use to cast from or the server since then. So it must be the chromecast.

Same issue here. Just started in the last few hours. It affects all of my chromecasts and is the same issue regardless of the device used to cast.

Same issue, Chromecast starts loading then stops a few seconds later and goes back to showing pictures. All other streaming apps can cast to it just fine, only Plex seems to be having a problem connecting to it.

Happening here as well. Also experiencing the same issue with casting to my Philips smart tv running Android TV.
Seems to have been resolved, at least for me now. No issues casting now from any device to any gen Chromecast.
lucky you, we (me) are still in the dark as to why or how to resolve it.
I can access now with the android app and the web client in chrome but nothing appears in the windows app, I have tried to uninstall/install on different computers, restarted chromcast, reset chromecast and wifi. With youtube and other applications chromecast works without problems… any ideas?

If the problem was what I guessed, meaning the chromecast app then there is nothing to do. I did nothing, they either rolled back the app of fixed it but as chromecast towards users is a bit of a black box.
Try restarting you chromecast perhaps or cast another app, see if that helps if something is cached on the device.

Did that , I’m still having the same issue with plex (web/app/player), all other apps are streaming to the chromecast ok.
btw: other players still working/streaming

Got the same issue here. Cannot cast from Chrome on my laptop, Plex on Android, Plex on iPhone or Plex on iPad 
I am able to cast YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Video etc.
