Can't Claim Server - Losing my Mind!

Server Version#: 1.41.3.9276
Player Version#:
Lost connection with server the other day - completely uninstalled and reinstalled PMS on QNAP NAS. I have done everything I can using terminal commands and ChuckPA UserCredentialReset. Nothing works. I have turned off all “safety” features on my router (Spectrum). Nothing. I’ve rebooted, restarted re-everything 20 times and I don’t understand the problem.

This is the error I get from UserCredentialReset “ERROR: Could not get credentials from plex.tv (Error: 7)”.

What am I doing wrong here?

Please help!

This usually indicates a network issue, that the NAS cannot communicate with plex.tv (no communication with plex.tv = no claiming).

Check network basics:

  • IP address & mask
  • Default gateway
  • DNS - If possible, use a public DNS such as 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare), 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 (Google), or 9.9.9.9 (Quad9).

Also make sure the NAS date/time is correct. If incorrect, it can interfere with claiming. If possible, sync the NAS with a public NTP server (pool.ntp.org, time.nist.gov, time.google.com, etc.).

Also, reboot the NAS. That sometimes “clears out the cobwebs” and things work again.

Thanks for the quick response. I had changed the DNS to google, checked all my time settings on the NAS all looked fine. Rebooted the NAS and the router one more time and poof it worked. What a disaster. Not sure exactly why I ended up in that loop of despair? But alas - I’m back in business.
