Can't Configure New Server

Fresh install of PMS in LXC
Browsing to server IP:32400 redirects to plex.tv
Logging in to my existing plex account reveals no reference to the new server

How do I add the new server to my account?

Please tell me more?

  1. LXC in which environment?
  2. Which root distro image are you using in the LXC

To add the server, presuming it’s a peer on your LAN,
you would open the PMS server by its LAN IP:32400/web

It will respond (loading Plex/web) and you’d configure from there.

If, however, the networking isn’t correct,
it won’t find Plex.tv and be able to communicate for claiming.

I was able to find the solution to this. The problem is that plex doesn’t want to do its first time configuration from a remote client.

By browsing to the new plex server from a virtual machine on the same physical host, I was able to access first time configuration. I assume this worked because that VM was on the same subnet.

This should probably be documented somewhere, like right on the landing page if you visit an unconfigured server. Instead of having it just forward you to plex.tv and leaving you scratching your head you should get a pop up that says “this server is not yet configured - please sign in locally” or something. Or make a little command line wizard to do the first bit of the setup - so if you boot a server that doesn’t yet have authorization setup you can set a password quick.
