I upgraded my modem/router and am using my old modem/router as a wireless access point. The TV is wired to the new modem, and the PC is connected via wifi to the old modem. The old modem is connected via lan to the new modem.
Unfortunately the TV app can’t find my media server now. Any advice on how to fix this? Thanks.
I think it’s because the old modem is blocking the broadcast. Not sure. Try to add your new network where the tv is connected to settings > network > lan networks
Added the IP of the TV and still not working.
Also noticed when playing from my iphone, it plays at a low resolution, when i try to change the quality it says “Video quality limited, a direct connection to the server is not available”
Yes i meant old modem/router sorry. LAN to LAN and not WAN. DHCP server has been disabled in the old router.
Unfortunately the DSL-AC68U doesn’t have that option.
Not sure how to disable the DNS resolver/forwarder, i’ll look into it.
Thanks for all the advice guys
Something in your old router is causing a second network to be created instead of acting as an access point, which is why your TV can’t see your server, they are not on the same network. Maybe provide screenshots of your settings from this router. You can PM them if you’d like to keep them private.
So i bit the bullet and got the Google Nest Wifi 3 pack. Incredibly disappointed that the plex app in my new 2020 Samsung smart TV can’t see the Plex Media server installed on my PC. No issues with my old all-in-one modem/router it replaced. TV is connected to the other Ethernet port in the Nest router so should definitely be in the same network I would have thought. Any ideas?
