I too am convinced this is an issue with the app via the Samsung Smarthub.
@ferguson_brian_mac_com I assume the UN55NU is the one that isn’t working? Or are they both not working?
Both do not work. I actually downgraded my PMS from the newer firmware and the app on the Samsung tv is still broke.
All other devices including iphones and ipads work normally.
The UN65H7150AF device is a pre-smarthub device. Our current app doesn’t run on those devices and it’s not supported on them. I find it super strange that that one also doesn’t work, since we haven’t pushed updates on it, and rolling back your PMS still has the same issue. It either means there’s an issue on Samsung’s side or something on our plex.tv services is not working for you. We’ll keep investigating but currently at a loss at what the issue could be.
I feel like it is something with Samsung because the Plex app on the tv is completely broken. Myself and others on this thread can not select the options when the screen shows the server is unreachable.
Both have been working flawlessly up until the latest update. I have made zero changes to my network in about 8 months.
Hi,
Same issues here.
I have:
Samsung UA55NU8000
Software: 1290
IP: 192.168.20.5 (Auto); 192.168.20.15 (set manually).
Located in Melbourne, Australia.
Has been extremely frustrating to deal with. Have reset the router, deleted and re-installed the app, factory reset the TV, reset network settings, manually set IP addresses, the whole kit and kaboodle.
Anyone found any work arounds on this? I’ve tried downgrading to previous versions with no success.
I have fixed the issue. Got this from another post from back in 2016 (I will post tomorrow).
Follow steps
- Uninstall Plex apps on all tvs and unplug them for 5 min.
- Shut down your Plex server and NAS or whatever device stores the PMS. After shutting it down, unplug it for 5 minutes.
- After at least 5 minutes, plug your NAS back in, turn on and reboot PMS.
- Go to your TVs, plug back in and turn on.
- Reinstall Plex app on TV’s and you should be good to go.
I tried this but didn’t seem to work, same issue of not being able to select anything.
Still hoping a fix will come through.
I did it once and didn’t work the first time around. My second time I actually unplug my tvs and nas for about 30 min. When I rebooted everything came up working.
Don’t hold your breath on a fix because this issue has been occurring for some Plex users since at least 2016 (via the forums). And as you can see, no one from Plex is really giving the thread feed back on this issue.
Good luck.
I’m having similar issues - also on a Samsung TV and only started happening a few days ago.
I could view older files on my PMS, but anything I added after Wednesday just wouldn’t play. I uninstalled the app and haven’t been able to reinstall it since - I keep getting a “Failed to download.(2007)” error. I reset my smarthub, changed the region of my smarthub and have even factory reset the TV and I’m still getting the same error - I can download all other apps just fine, so I’m convinced it’s an app issue in the Samsung smarthub.
Any help would be greatly appreciated - I’ve been running Plex on this TV for a few years without any issues. I can run it through my xbox in the interim, but it’s far less convenient and I’m not a fan of the console GUI.
Please help
Hi all,
One more case of this issue! I’m having the exact same problem, as in:
- “Plex is not reachable” message upon starting PLEX app
- Cannot select any of the three buttons with the remote (Retry, Go Home, Open Settings) - the app does not react to any input.
This only happened once I was forced to reinstall PLEX (had to do Factory Reset on the TV to fix a different, non-PLEX issue), at which point it installed newest version at the time.
PLEX Version: 4.21.2 (27/02/2020)
Smart TV Model: Samsung UE43NU7120
Samsung Software: T-KTSUDEUC-1270.6
I’ve tried:
- Factory Reset TV (was actually cause of the issue, since it forced me to reinstall the app)
- Restarting PLEX Server
- Restarting TV
- Reinstalling an App (in conjunction with restarting TV and Server)
Similarly to the OP, the main issue is the app not responding to input, thus not being able to configure the app.
Me too! Got a brand new samsung-tizen Q90R. I get the same error when opening the Plex app. I can’t select any button using the remote but clicking OK seems to at least “beep” (although nothing happens).
I opened a browser and navigated to my PMS and I was able to log in / see everything. So this is clearly not a network issue. The app simply seems to be broken…
Quick update: it looks like a new version arrived in the store yesterday. The new version allows me to navigate those buttons and after I retried the Plex discovery, it worked.
For me the issue has been resolved.
Thanks!
The new version allowed me to navigate the buttons and re-link my tv.
Thanks!
A post was split to a new topic: 4.25.2 Not Working with Remote Connections
Can confirm a fix!
Hadn’t checked Plex in a while but looks like the last update has pushed through a fix and I can now actually select things.
Still having a couple of issues reconnecting to the server but could be some of the settings I fiddled with while trying to fix it in the first place.
Thanks muchly!
