Can't download the Plex app on Samsung TV

Howdy,

I have a Samsung Smart TV (UA55JU7000).

I’d been using the Plex app without any issues for 6 months until I did a hard reset to eliminate some menu lag I was experiencing.

After the reset I can download any app except Plex. When I click the download button, the status bar fills up and then I get the following message.

“Unable to download. Please try again later. (Code: 107)”

Things I’ve tried:

• Reset TV through Self Diagnosis menu
• Factory Reset TV through service menu (Pressing Info > Menu > Mute > Power On buttons from Standby Mode)
• Unplugging TV from power for 30 minutes
• Multiple network (TV) and router resets
• Resetting the Smart Hub

It’s got me seriously baffled and I can’t seem to find anyone else who’s experienced this exact problem.

Any ideas?

Player Version#: 2.012

Hmm, better to contact Samsung? Do other apps work?

I agree, you’ll need to contact Samsung. This specific app was not developed by Plex but by a volunteer who is no longer able to support it due to health issues.

I’m having a similar issue - had to reinstall the app as new media files wouldn’t play (old files were strangely playing fine) and now it won’t download. My error reads “Failed to download.(2007)”.

I have tried Samsung support. Reset the smarthub. Changed smarthub region. And even factory reset my TV… nothing. All other apps download and run fine, so this issue is specific to Plex. It’s sooo frustrating :frowning:

Thanks for the replies. I haven’t tried talking to Samsung, will respond when I do.

I feel like this is going to become a common problem. Props to the dude who made the app in the first place, I thought it was official due to the quality.

Same issue here, stopped working earlier in the week and after numerous smart hub issues I can now attempt to download again ‘error 107’

I have tried emby as a alternate until this is fixed however requires install on every power on.

I might look at buying a Roku box as Plex will work prefectly on that.

Try to put the plex app onto a usb stick and plug it into the TV.
This method unfortunately works only on some models.

Put onto the USB stick: Beta Releases

Thanks. I’ve downloaded the app onto a USB and followed the instructions… but how do you then side load the app?

Sorry, the instructions for side-loading are a few posts above in here: From the Developers - If there is any news, it's in here!

Thanks all, I followed the steps but still not having any luck. Only difference is I’m using exFAT format for the USB (only have a Mac in the house currently). Is FAT32 the only format that will work for side loading apps on Samsung TV?

I’m afraid so.

Thanks, Otto!, at least I know that’s the issue now! Appreciate the swift response.

Google told me this: https://www.anyrecover.com/hard-drive-recovery-data/format-usb-drive-mac/

I am having the same issue. I had 4.17 installed and it would not update the app (error 310) to 4.25 so I deleted the app and now it still will not download the app. I have a 4k tv.

I will try to sideload the app tomorrow with a fat32 usb.
Side note you can format on a Mac via rasbian installer app from raspberry pi. They have a “format media to fat32” point and click utility for those who don’t know command line or disk utility/boot formatting.

Unfortunately side loading didn’t work for me cos my TV is too new.

I went and bought a Chromecast, seemed to be the only way to get things going again. Now that’s randomly started to stuff up too! Keep getting H4 errors playing back videos that worked fine a week ago.

Where did you get the actual download? It’s not available on the Plex downloads page for smart tv’s. The only one I found was v2.** from 2018 on the provided links above.

Can’t remember how i found it but i had to dig around for a while, it’s definitely on the forum there somewhere just keep searching and it’ll come up.

A post was split to a new topic: I can’t install the Plex app

FYI on the “split topic”, someone said that unplugging/plugging the TV (thus doing a restart rather than turning on and off the TV) works.

For this issue, I didn’t test other apps at first, but it seemed that I couldn’t download other apps as well, so I did this and it solved the issue for me.
