Can't find my Library Contents after new router setup

My internet provided recently switched to another router and I am able to connect to My PC via Plex channel, I do see my Queue but not my library section. I understand that my IP address has changed so I removed the plex media server that was linked to my plex channel and did another "Discover Servers" which is successful. I confirmed the new IP address. However I still don't see my library contents on the Plex Channel, but when connected to the Media Server on my PC the contents are there and have no problems sync to my PC folders. Please help.

Have you set up port forwarding on the new router ?

/T

Well in theory none of this port forward stuff is necessary for the Roku on the same LAN as the server. Unless of course Require Authentication on Local Networks is enabled in Server / Connect / Advanced Settings or List of Networks Not Requiring Auth is not blank in Server / Network / Advanced Settings.

May be there is old cached information or getting wrong old information from plex.tv for the servers. If that is the case then re-connecting to plex.tv via a port forward would help. But probably best to see if there is old information to be deleted - removing old server entries / devices

plex.tv/pms/servers

plex.tv/pms/resources.xml

Both of these would return xml giving details of what plex.tv holds as info for the servers and devices

and to remove old stuff

plex.tv/servers

plex.tv/devices

Worth also checking that the firewall on the PC still has an inward rule for tcp port 32400

PS: Intrigued as to what this means exactly

when connected to the Media Server on my PC the contents are there and have no problems sync to my PC folders.

sync?

Thank you all. I have checked the router settings everything seems to be in place. I also completed uninstalled the plex server from my computer and deleted the library before uninstalling and reinstalled it on the same computer and created a new library with mapping to a new folder. I can see the content on the plex.tv server but still unable to see the contents on roku channel, I also removed the connection to the server I had previously and allowed the channel to find a new server which it did and confirm to ip address and port 32400. I don't understand why its difficult to make this work, the only thing changed was the IP address/router it should have been a simple change in plex channel to update the ip address/port, what am i missing? Please help.

Thank you

Its hard reading thru your post. Let me see if I understand. You can connect to your media library using Plex web just fine but it doesn’t seem to be working correctly from the roku ?

Yes, I can connect to media library using Plex web. My roku is able to locate to Plex media server, I do see my queue contents (a,ka, Plex it!) but not my media library and my channels.

I have the same problem as kri8ive02.  New router and now I can not access Plex through my roku.  I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of plex and still nothing is working.  I even made an attempt at following the port forwarding instructions but that didn't work either.  My roku does immediately recognize the Plex Server computer.  I can remove and rediscover it quite quickly but no items in the Library.  My new router is a D-Link DIR-855L.  It is dual band and I did make sure that the roku and server are on the same band.

Any help is appreciated.  Thank you!

See post #4 above

If the Roku is on the same local network as the Plex Media Server and you are not using 'Require Authentication on Local Network' within the Server / Connect / Advanced Settings then the Plex on the Roku should be able to connect to the Plex Media Server library.

Check the IP Addresses of the Roku and the Plex Media Server. The first 3 octets need to be the same - confirming they are on the same network

Check the firewall on the Plex Media Server computer that it has an inward rule for tcp for port 32400 for all networks

Check that the Plex Media Server / Settings / Network has GDM Enabled and that Advanced Setting 'List of Networks Not Requiring Auth' is blank

Thank you Sa2000! My pc McAfee firewall was blocking the connection to Roku. I had to turn off the 'NetGuard' for Internet Connection Programs for Plex Media Server.

Double thanks sa2000.  I opened the port on my McAfee firewall and there was my library.  Never would have thought installing a new router would require that.

Thanks for the feedback. Interesting that for both of you it was McAfee firewall !

I'm also having a similar problem on the Roku 2 XS. I don't have internet at home but I have a WIFI/Ethernet modem and I'm trying to connect to my pc/server in the same room. I used to be able to use plex on my Roku (It's the only app I have - that's why I purchased the Roku) My Plex app's trial on the Roku expired and I paid for it online. Since then the plex app cannot detect my plex media server via the wireless network or via ethernet. I even tried making it acess the server manually by inputing my local IP address.

I have done the checks suggested in the previous post i.e  firewall on the Plex Media Server machine does have an exception for TCP Port 32400

Check that the Plex Media Server Settings for Network has 'Enable GDM' set

Media Manager / Settings / Server / Network

Check that Plex Media Server Advanced Settings for Connect does not have 'Require Authentication for Local Network' Set

Media Manager / Settings / Server / Connect / Show Advanced

Check that Plex Media Server Advanced Settings for Network has blank in field 'List of Networks not requiring auth'

Media Manager / Settings / Server / Network / Show Advanced

I really have been pulling my hair out tryna figure it out. When I enter the IP address it gives an error message saying plex cannot connect to the server etc.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

I was having the same problem. Windows Defender Firewall had created a rule to block Plex. Once I found that I disabled the new rule and I could access my Library again.
