FAQ 15: Claiming & Connecting to a troublesome Synology server

Your server should be in an unclaimed state.

Since you’re on DSM 7:

  1. Uninstall Plex Media Server with the “Keep” (default) or “Sign out and unclaim” option.
    Do not pick the “Erase” option.

  2. Re-install Plex Media Server using the Claim Token option.

  3. The installation process will lead you through obtaining and entering a the token.

  4. After the installation process completes, point a browser at the IP address: http://syno_ip_address:32400/web. Your server should be in a claimed status.
