Same for me. Plex will match the title but will not download any data for several tv shows.
It’s intermittent whatever it is. Works for a bit, then times out.
I am not getting any metadata from tvdb at all not even the titles
It’s now working correctly for me. Titles found and metadata downloaded.
I have been having this issue for about half a year. New shows and seasons come up with names I don’t even have, some never heard of. Takes multiple searches to find the correct show even putting in the copied name from TVDB and the year it states. When will Plex fix this issue? With my limited bandwidth, I have it scheduled to download data during my extra data time 2am-6am. But having to fix the names, causes it to download everything during peak usage time. Fixing the 3 seasons today just cost me 5% of my monthly allotment. And those 3 were season 2,3 and 4 of one that was already correctly matched. Same folder G:TV/Bones with each new season in it’s own folder.
If a few kilobits is 5% of your monthly allotment - time to find a new ISP, pay the overage or stop using Plex. <---- it can only go downhill from here.
Are you using MP4/M4V files?
If so: Move Local Media Assets to the bottom of the stack of active agents under ALL tabs for Shows and Movies:
Red: Where it was
Green: Where it goes
If you’re not using MP4/M4V files - name and structure your files correctly:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/categories/your-media/
If you are naming and structuring your files correctly then you might try clearing your TVDB cache:
That’s all the standard stuff that usually fixes problems like yours - Usually.
If I could get something better than Hughes Net were I live I would. Per Glasswire, the internet traffic during that period accounted for 235mb of my 10gig monthly limit. So my estimate was off, instead of 5% it accounted for 2.35%. I use AVI files and the issue started after I upgraded to the version before Version 4.8.4. I upgraded to that version hoping it would fix it but no luck. I will try clearing all my cache before I get another TV series/season to upload to see if that helps.
Then the issue can’t be embedded metadata - Plex can only read data within MP4.M4V files. Still a good idea to move LMA - if you ever want to use an MP4/M4V file.
At this point your file names and structures are ONLY way Plex has to identify your material. If you don’t name stuff precisely as indicated in the guide - anything can happen - most of it bad.
The cache dump will reboot TVDB. Might help. Might not.
