Remote access works great, but when I go to app.plex.tv, it shows as an indirect connection. I searched a lot on the internet regarding this problem, but I can’t quiet make out a solution for me. I have found that if I disable “Secure connection”, the connection will become direct. I don’t know if it’s a problem that I’m not using a secure connection, but a secure connection sounds better to me… I would like a direct connection to use synclounge and maybe that direct connection will make my movies stutter less?
I apparently can’t change the DNS on my router and I don’t see ‘DNS rebinding protection’ anywhere…
Is using a non secure connection actually that bad? If I only disable secure connection when I want to use synclounge for example, is it a big problem?
Only you can decide if it is bad that anyone with access to a part of the internet connection between your server and any Plex client can determine what you have on your server and what you and your sharees are watching/listening to.
If you are OK with that, simply disable secure connections.
In this case, bookmark this URL and send it to your sharees as well: http://app.plex.tv/?secure=0
Okay, thanks. I will use a secure connection most of the time, but now I know it’s not a really big deal that I disable it for a few hours when I’m watching a movie with a friend. Thanks again for the information/answer!
