Hi,
I would kindly like to ask for your help. I have dutifully followed the guidance in this local media assets article for TV shows. Posters for individual seasons work greatly but posters for whole shows do not. And I cannot figure out why. I placed show posters on the correct “level” (root of each show) and named them accordingly show-1.jpg, show-2.jpg etc. I attach my server details below.
Any suggestion will be greatly welcomed, thank you in advance.
Server Version#: 1.24.3.5033
Server#: Nvidia Shield TV Pro
Player Version#: 4.66.1
I see, thank you, It didn’t occur to me but I will give it a try. On a side note, is it possible to edit those help guidelines? Some kind of crowd sourced update maybe…?
Once you have your show.jpg, season01.jpg etc… you also need to ensure you have Use Local assets enabled on that library. See screenshot below. I would check that first also ensuring you do a scan & refresh of the library so the jpg files are detected.
In addition, if you have EVER manually selected a show or season poster then this will not be used as you have manually set it to something else. For any shows like this you would need to manually set it again using the local one.
Library settings are correct however that rule about EVER making a manual poster selection is the problem. Of course I have at least once selected poster for some shows in my library. Is there no way how to circumvent this than creating a new TV Shows library?
Not that I am aware of anyhow. As I say, a manual poster/backgrounds/episodes selects are considered a edit by plex which then locks it from metadata refreshes. The only way is to manually set it again to something else or setup a new library/server. This I have done previously once I had all my local assets in place to ensure I’d never have poster etc… changing again.
The Plex Dance should allow Plex to auto-select the local poster file, but that will remove the show from playlists, and it may affect the watched status, sharing status, and any other customizations.
