Can't get anything to work now

Installed Media Server on Window 10 computer. Pointed it to my local drives. Loaded my music, movies, etc. Organized my Dashboard. Very cool I thought. Windows did some updating. Now when i launch Media Server all I get is ‘looking for servers’ ‘a server could not be found. download and install Media Server and it will appear here’

It is installed. I can’t find the Dashboard anymore. The activity icon is gone. Not sure what else there is to tell.

I’ve looked through the forums and FAQ’s but nothing helps.

Organizing my local media was very cool. I’d like it back. I barely looked at it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Is the tray icon still there?
Or if it is there, does it vanish when you move your mouse over it?

the icon is fine. i use it to launch plex. the top where it says ‘Open Plex…’

When i use app.plex.tv i get the same as described.

I can see no server signed into your currently used Plex account.
The account is also only 5 days old.
Which makes me believe that you inadvertently created a new plex.tv account, into which your web browser is now signed into.

Since your server is using a different plex account, you don’t have access to it from your web browser (which is using a different plex account than your server).

You must bring your web browser back into the older plex account.

  1. Sign out your web browser
    web_sign_out
  2. sign it back into the older account
    sign_in_webbrowser

If you cannot remember anymore which plex account you used, take a look into the Windows registry.

The key PlexOnlineMail should hold the email address, which you used for the old account.
