Been loving everything about Plex so decided to go for the plex pass so as to improve the ability to play my music on Sonos, but I just can’t get it to work.
I’m using Plexamp for android (although have tried with the regular plex app) and can see all the speakers and connect to it (tick next to the speaker name) but nothing happens when I play music. Looking in the sonos app I can see that sonos is attempting to get the requested music but is showing the error ‘unable to connect to… plex.direct:32401’ where the … is my external ip and 32401 is my external port. I don’t have any problems playing direct from the sonos app.
Am I missing something obvious here? I was, maybe naively, thinking that if plex was working directly on the sonos app then the casting should just work too.
Do you have your Plex server accessible over the internet? That’s a requirement for streaming music inside Sonos (and yep, it’s kind of a weird requirement).
Not sure if diagnostically relevant but now when I play via the sonos app nothing is showing in the ‘now playing’ on Plex dashboard even though music is coming out of the speakers and the bandwidth graph is show the data transfer. I’m pretty sure the details of the current song was showing before…
