I HAVE many MANY video files that became combined, the names are not even close so i am not sure how it happened, but i cannot for the life of me get the split/unjoin tool to appear. please help or recommend an app that can do it for me… its very frustrating
Are these files associated with a TV series or with movies?
If they are TV series, be aware that you can only split items at the show-level, not at the season or episode level (though splitting the show will necessarily split episodes). You should be able to split items by clicking the vertical ellipsis (three dots) at the bottom-right of the show’s poster and selecting “Split Apart.”
If they are movies, then they can be split by clicking the vertical ellipsis at the bottom-right of the movie’s poster and selecting “Split Apart.”
However, it might be a better idea to determine why they’re being merged in the first place and fix that. It generally boils down to file naming and organization issues. Ensure you’re following Plex’s naming guidelines and you should have relatively few issues.
Be aware that “Split Apart” is only available for items which have been merged (either manually or automatically).
