I’m running Plex Server on my Asustor device. It appears to run fine serving a movie to the Plex software on my Tivo. However, I cannot access the web management interface directly to the server (port 32400/web). I’d like to reconfigure the shared folders, but can’t access (either in Firefox on Windows 10 or Edge). I updated the server and deleted/reinstalled it - both without changing the behavior. Any suggestions?
what is the exact outcome when you try accessing it?
did you try accessing it via https://app.plex.tv/desktop instead or using http vs. https?
in Firefox I get “The connection was reset”. In Edge I get " Hmmm…can’t reach this page".
Yes, I can access the link recommended. But is it really the same thing (vs. a similar thing)?
app.plex.tv/desktop is the Plex Web version hosted by Plex… it has basically the same features the version of Plex Web hosted on your server got (https://[your server IP]:32400/web).
Usually the local version contains a slightly older (deemed stable) version of Plex Web.
Thanks, that’s helpful, but doesn’t explain why the local version doesn’t work (I think it used to).
how exactly did you try to connect to the local Plex Web?
did you assign a static local IP address to the NAS in your router or could the IP address have changed?!
I initially tried by clicking on the Plex icon in the Asustor administration console. I also tried directly addressing the IP address. The Asustor is on a fixed IP address.
My guess is you have to enable local access which is disabled by default after claiming a server. Go to settings -> network (advanced) and close to the bottom enter the address–range that is considered local or your IP. In my case it’s 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 to give you an example
Thanks, appreciate the thought. I tried to enter the range as well as the specific computer I’m sitting at, but that didn’t seem to make the difference.
I encountered the same error this morning. Same server version.
The network appeared okay, otherwise, and other apps could access the Asustor just fine. So I decided it was a PMS networking glitch.
In order to force a new network connection, I went into the Asustor console, opened App Central and disabled Plex, waited a few seconds, the re-enabled it. It has worked fine after that.
