Glad it helped someone as I went through a bit of trial and error to get it going. Now to wait until my IceTV trial runs out and use a free solution…sounds like there’s at least a couple we could try. But shame on Plex for just dropping it, my Windows 7 Media Centre pulls the free to air guide, i’d be more that happy to have Plex do the same.
Thanks Jayman0007 - this worked for me.
Tried waiting for Plex to get their act together (yes, I know they say they are looking into the problem in another thread) but I’m now up to PMS 1.16.3.1402 and it is still broken.
…and thanks Plex for wasting a almost an entire month of the 3 month IceTV trial period. I bet they won’t reimburse us for that either!
■■■■ me, no wonder I’ve been having issues. What a joke. Like others, I only bought the pass for the DVR functionality (and I’ve been scrambling to get it running tonight to record the Ashes).
What garbage. Hopefully Plex fix this issue.
I’m in New Zealand with the same problem. Like everyone else here I’m pretty disappointed with this as it’s the main reason I purchased the software.
I was using EPG Collector with success to get around this. It’s a bit fiddly to setup but once you have you simply schedule it to run daily and it downloads the next 7 days of TV Guide. Seems to work for multiple different countries.
Now I’m using https://nzxmltv.github.io/xmltv which provides an online correctly formatted XMLTV file for New Zealand.
Just started to use - http://www.xmltv.net/ which is from the Github at https://github.com/markcs/xml_tv
Thanks mark and michelle
This is awesome, it resolves the issue and all is well. THANK YOU!
And Im another disgruntled customer with a lifetime plex pass for that exact reason to have access to TV in australia I am
PLEX fix this now, its rude
I am in Europe (Slovakia) and I’m having exactly the same issue as OP wrote more than two years ago! Continue button is disabled, and I cannot continue with the installation. Why is this still not fixed? Why??
BTW this fixed it for me Woop Woop, Thanks PBtech for supplying the Hauppauge Dual Tuner device.
There are 2 guides for NZ, can anyone recommend 1 or the other?
From their site:
There are two guide versions that are developed together:
- Original Guide. This is the original guide that still contains All New: and New: items on their titles.
- Guide without ‘new’. A much requested feature is the removal of All New: and New: items on show titles. This guide adds this, but without breaking those that are still on the original guide.
Both of these will be updated together, so new features and bug fixes will affect both guides.
Try looking for your EPG on this feed. I don’t have a list of the available, but these examples work:
http://xmltv.net/xml_files/Canberra.xml
http://xmltv.net/xml_files/Melbourne.xml
http://xmltv.net/xml_files/Sydney.xml
http://xmltv.net/xml_files/Brisbane.xml
I have script which downloads the latest version twice a day, and I point the Plex DVR at that file.
This might be able to help with the auto downloading: https://sourceforge.net/projects/autofileloader/files/latest/download
so it still not properly fixed in plex and you are required to manually update the epg
this is not acceptable!
i paid good money for that as a main function …
im using Ice TV but that will start costing me money soon i need it working via plex ASAP!
Same boat as you other Aussies’
Does anyone else thinks this comes under Australian Comsumer Law?
e.g pay for a service, Australia EPG guide via Plex Pass and have it revoked as a service?
I’ll just add my voice to all the people who think this is unacceptable. Seems to be standard plex procedure to be honest. Break a feature and then just leave people in the lurch. This is why I’ve dumped plex twice over the years - things keep breaking. DVR was actually what brought me back and now here I am, building a new server and it no longer works.
Bizarre.
