Can't reclaim Server after password reset

Server Version#: 1.28.1
Player Version#: 4.89.1

Hi there,

As maybe other people are experiencing, I cannot reclaim my server after a password reset. I can access the server web at [local IP]:32400/web/ and login with my Plex credentials, but there is no option to reclaim the server. I am at a complete loss.

I have tried:

  • Stopping and restarting the server
  • Stopping the server and eding the preferences.xml file as discussed here.
  • Removing the server from approved devices list, then stopping and restarting

I have followed every guide I can find. I can’t get my server back. Please help!

I think I"m even worse since the password change I can’t even access the :32400 site keeps on giving me this

This site can’t be reached

192.168.2.85 unexpectedly closed the connection.

Try:

ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED

I am having this same issue. Plex needs to be more active in here since this is their screw up.

I visited this URL: http://[serverIP]:32400/identity and I see the following:

MediaContainer size=“0” claimed=“0” machineIdentifier=“(REMOVED)” version=“1.28.1.6041-738907df3”

The server obviously needs to be claimed, but I can’t do it. For context it’s installed as a QPKG, not in a docker or anything.

Just tried the ClaimIt tool and got this:

Is this a Plex service problem?

Same here. This is a huge problem. Tried to setup and reclaim Plex from the LAN, no luck when I click the “your media” link I only get a button to download Plex server, which is the exact app that I’m running that is showing me the button, duh.

Uninstalling Plex unclaiming it, and reinstalling it made no difference either.
