Can't rewind live TV / DVR

I have been having this issue for a while and through a number of releases of the Media Server and Roku app. I am recording a live TV program (Monday Night Football) and I started about 15 minutes into the show. I am unable to rewind and the player keeps dropping me at the live broadcast. Once a recording is over, I can FF and RW through it with no issue.

I suspect it may be post processing on the DVR side that is keeping me from rewinding live TV. Any known issues or settings that could cause this?

I thought that was fixed in 1.13.7.5369? Bummer.

  • (DVR) Keep the entire contents of programs currently being recorded or played in the live seek buffer (#8224)

I can confirm it most definitely is not. This is a feature that has never worked well with Plex for me.

Am I really the only person that is experiencing this?

I have the same problem. I started a recording to watch a football game. I came back 30 min later and it won’t let me fast forward or rewind. I can only go live our you the beginning. I’m on firetv.

Is there an encoding option that will allow FF/RW for my streams? I know the recordings are MPEG2.

I have this issue as well. I cannot rewind at all on Live TV. Everything works fine with DVR Recordings. It’s very frustrating when you want to rewind a bit to catch something you missed! I can’t believe there aren’t hundreds of people screaming about this on here. Isn’t this a typical function of all DVR systems? I guess it’s possible that the relatively new Live TV function of Plex is somewhat of an afterthought. However it being a “paid” function requiring Plex Pass, you’d think that they would put efforts into fixing this core DVR functionality problem.

People have become tired of screaming. Time shifting has never worked well and always been somewhat random in its performance. You’re NOT alone :wink:

Same issue here, maybe worse.

If I even try to watch a show that is recording, the recording immediately fails.

Tablestakes, this is basic functionality that should work by now!

Ya, it’s now broken on the Beta and the “normal” on my ROKU. No timeshifting period. All the images scroll but it always resumes play where it left off.
