Like the title. I have to disable WiFi and Mobile data for Plex to show things “On this device” only.
I’m not sure if this is a bug or a misguided feature, but sometimes I enjoy not wasting all my mobile data and would like the option to play music exclusively from my phone while still being able to receive email.
You can toggle the “offline browsing” switch in the navigation drawer (slide in from the left of the screen) to see the offline content without actually going offline.
I don’t understand why this had to move / become obscured / thrown under a rug.
It’s not my offline library, it’s my sync’d library. With that in mind, why would I choose toggle an “Offline” switch? To me, I can’t find my sync’d library where I expect it to be. Show me my libraries where I expect them to be.
Sure, one of the features of Sync is that you can play stuff when you’re offline. It’s not the only usage of sync, though. It’s a library. Show me my libraries in the place where I can pick libraries.
I get that some users may have been confused and that’s why you made the change…but I’m not a brain dead toddler. Your UI shouldn’t treat me like one. My guess is that you presume if John McNormaluser sees “Music” twice he’ll self-destruct; his brain will liquefy and his organs will explode.
To me, I have 3 libraries: Music, Audio Books, and Music (on this device). Why can’t I freely choose which I want to use?
If you enable “Prefer synced content” in “Settings” → “Advanced” → “Player” playing an item from your online library that is synced won’t use your data.
Thanks for the feedback, will share it with the team.
I noticed this change as well on IOS and Android. Not only bad for the reasons you stated but because sync is so bad on both platforms it was the easiest way to make sure I had the items I wanted synced were on my device before I left the house.
Though I would add, seeing synced items before leaving that house does not always work because you place the artwork and meta data on the device before the sync is complete. So sometimes it looks like its on my device but it is not and I do not know until I try and play it.
Either do not make artwork and meta data visible until its completely synced or
have a sync progress bar for each item overlay the artwork or dim the artwork (like when installing a app on IOS or Android) so we can tell if a Item is synced at a glance and not have to dig into menus to see the sync progress.
