Can't set up remote access

Just fyi I’m not deeply knowledgeable about this stuff so please consider that in your replies. Thank you. I tried to connect to remote access and got the message not available outside your network. I then tired to manually specify the port. I’m using an Xfinity Gateway modem/router. I went to port forwarding in the router settings and entered 32400, then checked manually specify public port in Plex. That didn’t work. So I tried turning off Advanced protection in the Xfinity app but I’m still not able to connect. I was looking at the help page from Plex and it seems to be over my head. Is there a simple fix for this? Or does my Xfinity/Gateway device block such connections? Any advice is appreciated.

I checked canyouseeme to see if this port was visible and it reported Error: I could not see your service

Make sure you forwarded TCP port 32400 not UDP. Make sure your server has a fixed IP on your LAN (some routers will do Static DHCP for that) and that TCP port 32400 is forwarded to that IP address.
