I think it’s criminal that they would bork the OS and then make us all wait several months for a fix. 
Synology is very methodical in what they do.
I kinda prefer the slower, deliberate release, cadence they use due to the amount of QA.
This is one of the rare times I’ve seen where they had a change actually slip through the QA cracks.
Some other NAS vendors could stand to benefit from Synology’s methods
