I have this exact same issue on my iPhone using the app.
I don’t have discovery turned on (never have).
I have the most recent plex server release.
The app states the following:-
Platform version = 18.5
Client version = 2025.16.0 (1068)
Whenever I click on an actors bio/filmography link or search an actor I get a list of the most recent additions to the library. No biomoage is accessible
On the have topic of cast/actors, I’m VERY MUCH missing my (arduously added) cast list to each video in my private (non-Plex Movie or TV) libraries.
Over many, many years, I’ve added cast to every video (mostly MP4 metadata)I’ve added to my libraries and while I can search for actors (most of the times) the movies/videos themselves do not show the cast list!
Is this by design or a bug?
I know these libraries are depreciated, but they should still have the same features they had with the old client.
Don’t take this away from users who have supported your (‘our’) platform we have dedicated and supported for so long.
@jfreiman I vaguely remember seeing another post from you where you described how it was that you manually added these cast member, I don’t see it in this thread so maybe it was in another? Did you add them via API command or added directly into your DB?
I think this would be a separate issue and we could/should move this to it’s own forum thread.
I’m seeing this on my other-video type library.
I have listed my family members and friends in the embedded metadata (both as cast for those showing up in a clip and director for the person who shot a clip). The metadata is available when filtering but not listed on a video’s details page.
I am also used PGMA for media I added between 2021 through September 2024.
But just about everything I added from the late 1990s until 2021 and isn’t in Movies or Television.
You tell me… I certainly don’t have a separate database – that said, Foobar2000 is what I use in place of an actual database. I can search, sort, filter, rename, add/edit artwork, etc. (with the help of MP4 Video & Audio Tag Editor (see above).
… so, is this a different issue? All my actors are searchable on the web GUI and on the ‘old’ apps.
Oh, I just re-read the OP, I see, this is a differnt issue.
Alright I think I’ve got the understanding of this additional issue. It seems like custom agents or manually edited metadata, where people are added to a title but do not have associated Plex GUIDs are not showing up in Cast & Crew hubs. If every person is without Plex GUIDs then the hub is hidden. Filing this now. Thanks @jfreiman and @tom80H for reporting.
The Current grid on iPad is not what is required in armchair research.
What I mean is if your using your iPad as a research device will watching a Film or Tv show on the big screen Television. A question always arises, I know that actor from some where? What shows was he or she in again? How old are they now? And so on… Not just what relates or other Movies or shows
Can you provide some more context? Is this within libraries that are using a custom agent or similar to what I described above
Yeah now I’m confused… It’s working as expected but when I checked the release notes it wasn’t included… . Too early in my day and responding too quickly . Sorry for the confusion. Looks like the mistake was in my reporting, it IS included in 2025.18.0.
I am seeing the slow to load Discover Credits page that @SE56 called out. Will continue to monitor and ask around.
I’ve been monitoring the slowness of loading the Discover Credit pages and it seems like it’s no longer as bad. Still a little sluggish. More so when using an account with shared access to several PMSs.
OMG, the delays I’m experiencing are pretty bad/annoying/unbearable and I don’t have any access to other PMS! I can’t believe it could be worse for other users! Yikes!!
I’m on version .18 still and haven’t experienced any change in loading times.
