Casting from iOS stops after about 1 minute

It sure would be nice for Plex to come out with a fix for this issue?. I’m just glad that others here mentioned to close the app to prevent it from stopping.

Same issue for me. Seems to work fine for me on iPad, but my issue is with an iPhone (Though i rarely use the iPad so cannot confirm it is not an issue too). Shows for my housemate cast to chromecast just stop playing after 30 seconds and have to hit play again sometimes 3-5 times in a row. I have my library shared with him and he has his own Plex account. No issues from PMP on PC.

I have the same issue. Closing the app after the casting has started is a fix for it… happening with iPhone and iPad apps and seems to be after they updated!

Have had a few crashes tonight because i forgot to close the app. But left it opened and it crashed within a minute and got this log right away.

It sure would be nice to hear back from a Plex employee on whether or not something is being done to fix this issue?.

As soon as we figure out what the cause of issue is something will be done to fix it.

No. there isn’t.

Ok so you need us to upload the server logs if that’s the case as it is happening pretty consistently so I can turn on the debugging and force it to happen and then can get them to you if that will help.

It looks like after the latest iOS update the issue isn’t happening anymore. Have only used it for a couple hours but have not had it disconnect and haven’t had to close the app. Anybody else experiencing the same?

I’m on 14.1 with my iPad and iPhone, and it’s still doing the exact same thing. I’ve updated the app to newest and no change. I’ve rolled back my nas several updates and nothing. So it’s definitely something with the app

Can confirm this is still happening must have just gotten lucky last time it didn’t happen.

Need this looked into because it’s pretty painful.

I also get this, after 30 seconds it stops casting.

If I start to play something and immediately lock my phone when it starts playing, it stops after exactly 30 seconds.

If I keep plex open on my phone for 30 seconds and then lock my phone it continues to play.

Not my chromecast because I can cast with other apps without the problem.

It is extremely frustrating that Plex can’t seem to figure out this issue?.

Same issue here on two iOS devices. V7.9. Hit and miss between streams. Exactly 30s in.

Same problem here as well.

Casting from 2 different iPhones with 14.1 and the chromecast - plex disconnects after ~30 seconds.
I can playback fine on the iphones, or an ipad, just occurs when chromecasting.

I didn’t have the problem before iOS 14, if I recongize correctly.

EDIT: Chromecasted yesterday, closed the Plex app on my phone directly after starting the cast, and it didn’t disconnect.

Well I updated to 14.2 today on both IPhone/IPad, and still same issue. It does work if you close the app… but it’s a pain to have to keep opening the app to pause. So I’m hoping that Plex is doing something to figure out what is causing the problem. So very frustrating

Updated to the latest Plex version, and no difference. Same issue… come on Plex… let’s get this fixed!!
