Is this being looked into?. Is there anything anyone can do to assist??.
Glad to see there’s a good thread going on this. I’ve been battling with it for a month or so now. Wish they could get this fixed.

Newest Plex update for iOS was just released a day or so ago, and after updating, it did NOT resolve the issue.
Update for Qnap and IOS… still the same… really getting frustrating that Plex isn’t fixing this issue.
Any chance this is still being looked at?. Updates keep coming out… yet nothing to fix this issue?
Problem still remains, latest version of Plex on iphone and also the server-version.
Both my and my girlfriends iphone does the same thing.
Bump… another Plex update that didn’t do anything for this issue
I find that if you just leave your phone alone after you’ve started casting, for around a minute and let the phone just go into standby itself, then it works fine. So for me there’s a problem when you start casting then leave the plex app within a few seconds. I don’t know what the exact time frames for all of this, haven’t had a chance to narrow it down yet, but will work it out slowly over the next couple of weeks.
I also believe that once you’ve started casting and have left the app and phone alone to go into standby itself (around 1 min), then you can go back into the plex app and switch out immediately without any problems.
So it seems that there is only a problem when you first load the app, start casting and switch from the app within n Seconds. (Still working on what n is, but it’s less than 60 seconds.
For me it seems to work fine when I start casting. But if I pause or stop then it quits after restart. When I restart casting it seems to work fine even with the app open?.
Just bumping again… maybe at some point we can actually get someone with Plex to figure out the problem?.
For me the stopping happens on youtube-dl downloaded videos (VP9). Rest seem to work. I have jump forward to continue playing. Really annoying. Latest iOS and both iPad and iPhone.
It happens to mine no matter which format I use… most of my shows are mkv, and my movies are mp4.
Another Plex update that didn’t fix this issue!!. Really annoying.
Same issue here. Video playback (using Firestick) stops after about 30 seconds. It doesn’t matter if I playback from my Mac Mini, Terramaster NAS (x2) or WD NAS. But playback is fine on Apple TV. Very frustrating, so using EMBY instead on Firestick.
Sooooo is anyone from Plex even checking this issue out?. Pretty sad.

Got excited for a brief moment. New update… didn’t seem to freeze at first… paused my show, and sure enough shuts down… way to go Plex
Has been happening to me for many months now. iOS device, casting to an android tv. If I cast and then switch app pretty quickly it tends to stop casting. If I leave the plex app open in the foreground for a minute or so it seems to continue casting.
Also every time you open the plex app it seems to forget that you were ever casting and in order to pause or resume something it takes ages because you have to press the cast button again for it to “remember” after the app has loaded up from the very beginning.
iPhone 11 Pro Max iOS 14.4.
It would be nice if every time you open another app or do absolutely anything with the iPad/iPhone. You didn’t have to restart casting again with Plex… it shuts down completely…
