Same problem here. I just switched from Pixel to iPhone 12. This is definitely an issue with the iOS app. The Android cast worked perfectly and other iOS apps cast just fine. Wouldn’t hold your breath on support from Plex. They only chime in when there’s a problem they can blame on your server setup. This is their problem, so crickets.

Same here. After 30 seconds the casting disconnects and returns to the chromecast slideshow.
Interestingly it doesn’t matter if I skip forward 30s, after 30s (now 1 minute into the stream) it still disconnects, which leads me to believe the app is either doing something or has a timer for 30s. Issue seems to be unrelated to what is playing, it’s just the iOS app.
Issue also occurs when switching app, not just locking the phone.
This should be fixed in the upcoming release of the iOS app (currently in beta) 
Hi @DaveBinM, is it possible for us to be kept in the loop on this? As we have had radio silence for months no clearly you have worked on it if the fix will be in place shortly. Would have helped to have that communicated to us that you are aware of it and working on it. As a lot of people were very frustrated in this thread.

I only became aware of it a couple of days ago, and have let folks know at the start of the week (I try to minimise my time on here during the weekends). 
No worries sorry I didn’t mean you as in you personally, more as in a Plex employee. We had somebody talking at the beginning then it just went dead. Hopefully the fix works

OMG!! First time in months that I’ve actually been able to watch my Chromecast… nice to see the update… sad that it took so long.

Definitely strange… haven’t had a single freeze since the latest update?.
So the update has fixed the problem of casting stopping but there’s still a similar problem where after the iPhone is idle for a while but still casting - it disconnects from chromecast, the media continues playing. So if you need to pause the movie for example you have to reconnect Plex client to the chromecast, wait, then take control again. Sometimes that fails also. Is this a Plex thing or a Chromecast thing?
My current fix is to begin casting the media to my TV, then put my phone on Airplane Mode for a minute or so. Works every time to avoid it stopping after 1 minute.
I believe I have it figured it for me. The drive I was using for the play back was falling asleep at random times. Rebooting woke it up. I replaced the SATA interface with a new one - I’m using an USB drive. The drive was not MBR but rather PMBR, Protective MBR. My other drive is normal GPT. I had to make a backup first, then re-format it, and place the files back. Let’s see if that works.
