Hello fellow Plex enthusiasts!
I have a 2013 Samsung Plasma TV with Plex app (2.013), which seemed to be fully functional and work fine with any PMS version up to current 1.41.9.9961.
Unfortunately today I suddenly realised that casting to TV doesn’t work anymore. I can select TV in “Select player” menu in Plex Web or Plex for Mac, but media won’t start playing on the TV itself and times out with an error.
After methodically downgrading and updating Plex Server on my Synology I could trace back this erroneous behaviour to PMS release 1.32.0.6918. Last version of PMS that had functional TV casting was 1.31.3.6868. Since then none of the PMS versions allows for casting from Plex Web or Plex for Mac to Samsung Smart TV.
Was there change in Plex Server version 1.32 that broke casting functionality and wasn’t mentioned in release notes (OpenSSL upgrade to 3.0 maybe)?
Or may that by any chance be some bug that could be fixed in future updates or I’m stuck with PMS 1.31 unless I’m willing to upgrade my TV?
P. S. I know of support deprecation for older smart TVs (Plex support is ending 2020-09-30 on older smart TV devices) but it states "Pre-2016 Samsung models, running v1.x of the community Samsung Smart Hub app for Plex"while I have 2.013.
