I’m having a really hard time getting my Technicolor C2100T modem from CenturyLink to be visible outside my home network. I’ve manually forwarded a port and Plex see’s the two IP addresses and the ports correctly, but is not connecting to the internet. The server mapping line looks like this. Private 192.168.0.2 : 32400 (green left arrow) Public 97.XXX.XXX.XXX : 48711 (red X) Internet. Any ideas?
( removed your external IP ) generally don’t want to post that on the interwebs.
if you go to canyouseeme.org and punch in 48711 as the port does it show as open?
I don’t have that modem can you take a screen shot of the port forwarding page and how you set it up
canyouseeme.org replies this:
“Error: I could not see your service on 71.xx.xxx.xxx on port (48711)
Reason: Connection refused”
Here’s a screenshot.
I still need to get a dedicated IP address, but i should be able to see my server from outside the LAN with a dynamic IP at least temporarily, shouldn’t I?
I am also having issues with this. My router says that port 32400 is already being used by the application forwarding. any additional help would be SO helpful!
did anyone get this to work i think its a firewall problem and am still getting same problem help please
@MediaJam do you have the same router?
http://internethelp.centurylink.com/internethelp//modem-c2100t-adv-port-forwarding.html
@bigwheel i have the c2100t
@BigWheel i did it all on this modem CL even was on the phone with me 2 full days trying to config to foreword the port there was no luck
are that link i posted not the same router? the screens are different than the image that Dag01 posted. ( quite frankly the way they designed that setup page doesn’t make much sense as they don’t appear to differentiate between external and internal ports ) Can you take a screen of your port forwarding settings.
you don’t have any other routers do you? two being connected together can cause a doubleNAT
@bigwheel its some what the same but here is the pic
1 enter the IP of the computer you have your server on
2. enter 32400 in both start and end
3. leave on TCP
4. might be able to leave it the way it is but what options does it give if you click “Define IP address”
on your server in the remote access settings enter 32400 in the “manually specify port” field and check the box in front of the field.
i did that never work
I’m having the same issue with my new C2100T modem for CenturyLink.
what options does it give you under Application forwarding
I figured it out. In the modem configuration under security UPnP it has a UPnP- NAT-T list of Ports being used. There where 4 separate port ranges listed for my server PC, two of them included 32400 and two didn’t so I deleted the two that had 32400 in them and tried again. It worked! I then rebooted my PC and checked again still good. Then checked the list on the router and there is now only one port listed for my server PC.
@doveman1970 i had 8 and it still never work when i delete them
I am experiencing the same issue too. Have you discovered an solution yet?
I tried this and it did not resolve my issue. I think the only listing I had there for that was the one I created trying to get the server to work externally.

I believe that I have figured this out: at the very least I have this working on my network and it appears the solution has resolved not only my Plex server issue but my Open DNS filtering and my Screens Connect issues as well:
First, I set the modem to put my main wireless router in the DMZ. This setting is pretty nice because when you go to enable it it will automatically list all of the IP addresses already present on the network. I selected my Airport Extreme from the list and clicked “Apply”.
Next, I opened up the “AirPort Utility” and changed the “Network” setting to be “DHCP and NAT” instead of “Off (Bridge Mode)”. The utility now shows a status warning that I have “Double NAT” but I read in the forum for Screens Connect that this is OK for their program so I assumed (correctly I suppose) that it wouldn’t matter to Plex or Open DNS either.
I did change a few other things that I do not know if they had a bearing on the resolution:
First, I disabled the Firewall on the modem (Both IPv4 and IPv6).
Second, I enabled port forwarding. This one I am not sure about because I only enabled port forwarding for Screens Connect and not for Plex (I do not know if Open DNS even supports or requires port forwarding).
At any rate I’ve been working for about four and a half hours on this. It may turn out that something else resolved the issue and I only think this is what did it so feel free to put this in the same arena as “free advice”.
Has anyone come close to a solution?
