I have tried everything. I’ve done every trick in the book - I cannot get the server to connect to remote clients no matter what I do. The answer to almost every question you might have for me is Yes. I’ve tried everything documented in Plex support pages.
I periodically am able to get connected through an “Indirect” connection - but my status page always shows that I have No remote connectivity. Yes - I have a Static IP. I’ve turned firewall completely off on all involved devices. No antivirus, VPN, Proxy, etc. Port forwarding does not work.
I started having these issues on my Comcast network about 2 weeks ago. I switched to CenturyLink over the weekend - and I have the exact same issues with CenturyLink. I have two completely separate Plex servers on my network - both on completely different systems - and they are both having this same Remote Access issue. I’m running a Plex DVR Beta on an iMac (version 1.2.0.2838). I am also running a current production release of Plex on my QNAP server (version 1.2.6.2975). My CenturyLink modem is a “technicolor C2100T” modem.
Any suggestions beyond what has been documented in the Plex forums and help pages? Anything else I can try?
I figured it out! Wow… so I eventually discovered that while I had forwarding setup correctly - there was a setting in the firewall that was blocking 32400. I had tested turning off firewall - and it did not fix the issue - so evidently “off” is not really “off”. What fixed it was putting an exception entry for the 32400 port - and BINGO! Hours of frustration finally over.
Under Advanced Settings - ipv4 Firewall - I added a Rule
Service: Plex
Service Type: Audio/Video
Service Port: 32400 TCP
And checked to allow both In and Out traffic. Once I did this - the Port Forwarding worked. I had to do both this and port forwarding in order to make it work. If I did only one or the other - no go.

I did exactly this, and it is a no-go on my end. I have Century Link fiber (switched from DSL, where it was working fine - without issue).
This is and has been causing me a SEVERE headache.
I have centurylink fiber and I too am having an issue with this. It shows my server as “green” in the remote access section…it allows access to my cell phone that is NOT on the same network as the house…yet other devices through Roku, apple tv etc cannot view/connect.
I had the same issue here on my end. Though I’m not Fiber I couldn’t get access to my content outside my network wifi/wired. I have the ZyXEL 3000z, I ran this same setup steps. Adding the start/end port as 32400 TCP but it didnt seem to work. However going back to the firewall page it seems you have to check the boxes for inbound/outbound to enable the rule.(IE you have to enable the rule after you create it!)
