Hi @ChuckPa,
I can uninstall just fine, but re-install does not give me the “Plex Claim Token” option, it just asks for a share space name and then proceeds to install. Any workaround for this?
Hi @ChuckPa,

Are you DSM 6?
This sounds like where it’s going to install PMS. Did you completely remove Plex?
On DSM 6, it’s the Plex shared folder (it doesn’t ask)
On DSM 7, it’s the PlexMediaServer shared folder (also doesn’t ask)
Both will ask which volume to use if a completely cold install
It’s DSM 7 and PlexMediaServer is there, but there’s still no option to claim the server, sadly.
Did the first option to uninstall and leave the files
Now Manual Install the same SPK again.
Use the Plex Claim Token option
Click “Get Plex Claim Token”
COPY the new token from the browser window
PASTE it back in the installer form.
NEXT DONE and it will install the package again PLUS claim the server for you.
It will show success if “Claimed by: YOUR_PLEX_ACCOUNT_NAME_HERE”
shows in the final popup message.
If you get an empty account name, there are networking problem.
I’ve done the re-install, but none of my media is showing. It’s asking me to add new libraries again, rather than retrieving what was already there…I suppose at least it’s recognizing the server again…
Edit – No, I’m wrong, my server still isn’t showing in settings…
Fixed, apparently the claim code had just expired when I used it, whoops! Got a fresh claim code and it’s working fine
Hi,
I’m not very IT techy at all. It looks like there is a solution to this problem but I don’t speak the IT language with all the abbreviations etc. Can someone please do a you tube video or step by step screen shots on how to fix this problem. I would mean a lot and I’m sure I’m not the only one out there that needs a little more explanation. Thanks in advance.
Agreed, I am not sure what this curl command is all about. I have tried removing the items from the preferences.xml but still no server to reclaim
This worked… I appreciate it so much!
Hello,
I got the same error, but before finding this post, I decided to remove everything for a clean install for my DSM7 synology nas
I disinstalled Plex with the third option (do not save nothing), removed the plexmediaserver folder andm reinstalled again, but with no luck.
still can I use the claim method?
and why a clean install do not allow me to see the server?
thank you
Luca
autoreply.
yes it works. However it is need to start all the library… history is of course lost, but ok.
small remind for me: next time see the forum first!
thanks a lot ChuckPa
Same issue here
i do not know where your server is installed but here is a tutorial how to ssh with Synology
you need this to launch the curl command
Thankyou. I’m guessing my server is on my laptop with Windows 11 as just use it to share movies, music, photos etc at home. I’ll have a look and see if I can figure it out.
Based on my work with DSM 6 and 7, I’ve created a dedicated tool to fix our NAS systems
Uninstall/Reinstalling PMS is no longer required.
Tested on DSM 6 & 7. All is ![]()
Many thanks for your script. Worked a treat to sort my Plex server out. Can’t thank you enough!
