I made a small change to a folder, but I don’t see the change reflected on screen. I turned everything off, disconnected the drive, rebooted, and turned everything back on. The change still doesn’t show.
If it is a change which affects the structure of the library, you will have to perform the Plex Dance.
This will then also make the affected media appear as if they have been added newly.
It was very simple. I just detached the external drive, ran Scan Library, reattached it, and ran Scan Library again. Problem solved. In Settings, you can set timing of regular scans. Above would suggest scheduled scans don’t do anything. You can only update by hiding your files, scanning, then unhiding and rescanning. Right?
I am not sure what you are asking regarding ‘scheduled’ library updates. They are just like manually triggered or automatically triggered updates.
Completely unplugging your drive should not have worked, because Plex will consider a missing drive as ‘temporarily missing’ and will not make any changes to the library.
(Unless you went out of your way to make the missing drive appear not as a drive, but as a subfolder of another drive. Something which is not easily done, at least on Windows.)
I tried to get Plex to see the folder changes many ways, but this was the only way that worked. Go figure.
