Channel Scan/Mapping Error and missing channel (HDHomeRun, WTXF Fox Philadelphia 29.1)

WTXF (Fox Philadelphia) just changed frequencies last month so that likely has something to do with the problem I am experiencing (lots of issues related to this, discussed on AVSForum here)
Anyway, just today, I updated both my HDHomeRun software and Plex Server Software to the latest versions (Plex=Version 1.16.5.1554)
I rescanned channels on the HDHomeRun first, in that tool, it shows both 6ABC (as 6-1) and Fox29 (as 31-3 mapping to 29.1) and both channels display fine from their tool. Next I go into Plex, and try to rescan channels there, but it does not pickup/show 6ABC at all, and oddly, it does pickup Fox29 (29.1) but when I actually choose this channel in Plex to view it, its showing 6ABC (6.1). So in Plex I can remap 29 to 6 and at least 6 works after that, but there is no longer a Fox29 at all. Also plex is not picking up any other channel that has Fox content when I view it (old frequency was “42”, new frequency is “31” but neither of those channels are showing in the scan list and I did manually check every channel just to see if Fox content was coming through on some unexpected channel but no dice).

So next thing I tried was just deleting the DVR altogether, and adding it back in from scratch and doing a new channel scan. But this did not help, everything was the same as described above.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, everything else is working well for me and all the other channels I expect are there.

Note: I’m not sure deleting a DVR really truly deletes it. When I added it back in again and scanned for example, it seemed to remember that I had mapped 29 to 6 and I didn’t have to do that over again. Maybe there is some folder or something I need to delete to do this properly?

Also note there are some peculiarities showing even in the HDHomeRun setup, ABC 6 starts at the 3rd subchannel not the first, as does Fox 29. And really strange, 6-6 is showing as Fox and viewing it also shows Fox.

[EDIT: Below solution no longer works, Fox is no longer broadcasting on this frequency, it was temporary]
OK, after more playing around, it seems I missed that 29.4 in plex was actually showing Fox 29-1, so if I manually map the channels as follows, I can now get the 3 ABC digital channels plus the main Fox channel (29-1) so I am happy, but there is still no way to get the other 3 fox channels (29-2,3,4) so there is still a bug here:

I’m actually having the same problem and tried the fix you described and left it at that a couple of days ago. Today it seems the channel 29.4 which I mapped to 29.1 is now stating there was an issue with both Fox and ABC, it has been fixed and to re scan. Re scanning changes nothing however and all the channels for both ABC and Fox are in their configuration as before. Are you still having your issue also? Thanks

Yes, same problem! I can’t get fox at all anymore, they are no longer transmiting on 6.4 (which was a temporary thing they were doing). This is strange, because HDHomeRun picks it up (and plays it fine directly) but nothing I do with Plex seems to get Plex to pick up the missing fox channels, deleting the DVR and adding it back doesn’t work. Plex is missing the channels that HDHomeRun shows (digital band 31 as shown in my screen shot above). I don’t know why this is the only channel having problems but it sure seems like a plex bug somehow. I hope we can get some support.

My guess is that Plex uses some service or data download based on your zipcode to figure out what frequencies are in your area and it doesn’t have the new frequency for Fox yet (broadcasting on digital frequency “31” but displays as “29”) and maybe just a simple update to this data feed is all that would be required to fix the problem?

I have reported the issue here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf0YIecSlA_pyZzmEttGeIT8ombGVJoIQB20Wa-YXHSv7vhhA/viewform

what is the current position., There have been some adjustments made to the channels for the “Broadcast TV Philadelphia OTA Broadcast”

Are the 6.x channels correct now ?
And do the 29.x channels in the guide need to be renumbered to 31.x ?
Earlier on you have HD Homerun setup screenshots showing 29.x channel numbers in theie guide

I just did a new scan from Plex and it is now correctly picking up all channels (6 and 29 are back where they should be and working)!

Thanks to whoever fixed the problem (yes Fox recently changed frequencies and for a short while they were even broadcasting on one of 6 ABC’s subchannel frequencies, a scenario that probably isn’t supported by Plex).
