Channels dissapearing after a couple of days

I’ve had plex DVR running for a week or so now, and every new days lots of channels dissapear from my program guide.

106 channels are selected in the DVR options, but all of a sudden this morning, only 46 are available for ‘watch now’.

These channels also dissapear from the recording schedule, meaning series records stop working.

The only way to bring them back seems to be to delete the DVR device, and re-add it again.

Would probably need to see logs covering period when they are disappearing. Have you tried doing a scan channels as opposed to deleting the DVR?

Go to Settings/Server/Live TV & DVR. Click the link for the number of channels enabled. Then from the enabled channels dialog click Scan Channels.

Scan Channels doesn’t make any difference. All the original channel show in that list, they just don’t seem to be available to the guide.

How do I retrieve the relevant logs?

To make sure the settings for the logs are correct go to Settings/Server, click Show Advanced link if necessary. Ensure that “Enable Plex Media Server debug logging” is enabled, “Enable Plex Media Server verbose logging” is disabled, and “Allow Plex Media Server tokens in logs” is disabled.

Once it happens again go to Settings/Server/Help, Click the download logs link and upload the zip file created. The logs will hopefully cover the time period of the channels disappearing.

I have the same problem. Installed Plex 1.10.1.4602 a week ago. WHS 2011. Immediately connected to new HDHomerun Extend, found channels and good to go.

Realized C:\ was getting full, so moved the application data directory to larger drive & changed the path. Also realized that PMS closes when I log off the RDC to the server, so I installed “Plex as a service (msi)”. Of course then, PMS couldn’t “find” movies on other computers. I removed “Plex-service” and the library began finding remote movies.

Now LiveTV/DVR function is missing. I have a show that recorded last night (1/2/18), but I can’t re-install the HDHomerun. I’ve tried using the IP address, and nothing works. PMS can’t locate the device, though I can watch the HDhomerun with it’s app.

Tried PMS sign-out/sign-in, rebooted server, moved 8 “db-shm, db-wal” files to a directory marked “old files”, rebooted server, PMS, no changes.

Suggestions? What next?

Thank you. I’ve enabled the logging. I reset it yesterday, so I’d imagine it’ll happen again in the next few days, I’ll update this when it does.

Just tried a PMS reinstall (https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201941078-Uninstall-Plex-Media-Server).
Seems to have worked. It immediately found the HDHomerun device, now I’m rebuilding the libraries.
What caused the problem?
Was it the “Plex as a service”?
Let me know. Thx.

Hi there,

Lost channels this morning. I probably wouldn’t have noticed normally, as they don’t seem to be channels I watch (none of my scheduled recordings have gone missing), but the number of channels in watch now has gone down from ~131 to 57.

Logs should be attached.

I’m not seeing much in the logs. Can you copy the HDHR device logs to a text file and upload. To access the device log: http://192.168.1.128/log.html.

Nothing seems to be present there either, but I still only have 57 channels!

Have you gone through the my.hdhomerun.com and marked any channels as Favorites?

I haven’t been to my.hdhomerun.com at all!

I’ve just checked again today, and the number of channels has gone up to 130!

If you can go to my.hdhomerun.com and post a screenshot of the information shown. Should look something like the image below.

This will at least show the number of channels the device is configured with and the firmware version.

Back to 57 again this morning!

You might want to update the firmware on your device. The red X on the version tells you that there is a newer version. You should be able to click on the Version link from that page and it will lead you through updating the firmware.
