Here’s a vid to help: dropbox.com/s/1p607mwxz8zs6oj/Plex-DBT.mov?dl=0
Are the missing channels copy protected?
I had this exact same problem and I just fixed it. For me I think what happened is when I originally setup the DVR in Plex my antenna wasn’t adjusted correctly and I wasn’t receiving a few channels. I readjusted and could tune to those channels and view them through HDHR, but they would not show in Plex. Just like you, if I rescanned my channels in Plex they would show on the Manage Channels window just fine, but if I searched the channels (like in your video) they weren’t there and all recordings I had set up on those channels just said no upcoming airings.
The fix for me was hitting the “Delete DVR” from the settings page in Plex (Don’t worry, you don’t lose any of your scheduled recordings or recorded shows). Then I immediately added the DVR back to Plex. Once added back, all my channels showed up correctly.

Thanks Johnm. I’m not sure, possibly, i’m hoping someone on here might know if this is the case.

Thanks Bheyse, thats helpful but i’ve tried several times to remove and re-add, but this didn’t change how many programs were in the guide. It’s as if the data in the guide is not coming down or as Johnm said maybe it’s respecting copy protection as my local Humax also does not allow recording of any 8* channel.
But i can confirm that i can watch all the 8* channels via the webpage and also the HDHomeRun apps. Just can’t record the show i bought the damn thing for!!! Grrrrr.
Made me angry also.
HDHomeRun is sorta a scam.
I bought one to record many channels I watch BUT they are just unable to play or record.
Nowhere did I see that I would not be able to use it for around 50% of my cable channels.
HDHomeRun is not the scam or issue. You can record copy protected material using Windows Media Center because WMC was certified by CableLabs to be allowed to record copy protected material. Plex is not certified by CableLabs so you can’t record copy protected channels. From my understanding CableLabs will only give certification when the recordings with copy protection can only be played on the same device that recorded the content.
Sorry I disagree with you.
If that were the case I would be able to at least WATCH those channels using Silicon Dust’s Own Player…
Which I cannot…

you are heavily misinformed in this whole “tv copy protected” business subject, which is ok, but inform yourself before you give up. Blame cablelabs for your misinformation. Start reading on what cablelabs is first.

Thanks guys but this dsicussion is about free to air terrestrial television in Australia, not about cable television channels, thanks.

It’s as simple as there is no data available for these channels in the particular guide you have chosen to use as the source, so you are unable to see the shows in the guide. Even if they appear to be able to be mapped, it doesn’t mean there is actually any guide data associated. There is lots of discussion in other threads in this regard to Australian channels:

When setting up the DVR, you enter your location and are given a choice of guide data, e.g. Freeview, FetchTV. Try changing guide source to see which one works best for you.
just to chime in on drm protected channels, the cable provider/tv station applys drm and the Silicon dust boxes does what it can but it doesn’t have drm-decoding ability so it cant’r record those channels directly and store the data on plex destinations, with windows media player (in older windows, it had drm decoding logic, newer windows does not) and the “dic…” at microsoft remove media player from later versions and dropped the drm logic from their software. its not SDI problem really, its the cable provider, now some providers will give you an M-Card which does support drm decryption ( I had Verizon fios which was sold to Frontier ) and both of them their M-Cards support drm playback(well thats what it thinks the SDI is doing is playing it) so the DRM is decoded and not included in your recordings of “TS” files. I can record almost all shows all channels with my SDI homerun boxes and M-Cards from my cable company. Other companies like ATT & Comcast block drm stuff if your just using coax plug but if you get an M-Card from them it should decode and allow playback of DRM stations/channels.
