So I have a Plex Windows server with a 1060 3GB as the primary GPU with a display plugged into it, this is the one I’d like Plex to use for Transcoding. I also have a 3080 as a secondary GPU. No matter what I do, Plex uses the 3080 for transcoding.
I’ve tried setting in the Nvidia CP and Windows Display Settings for Plex and Plex Transcoder to use the 1060 but it doesn’t work. Is there a way for me to fix this? If not, can it possibly be added as a feature to select in the Transcoder settings at some point?
Check the BIOS settings and see if there is a way to set one GPU as primary.
On my desktop PC (i7-4790K) the BIOS has a setting for which GPU is primary (Intel QSV or Nvidia on my system). PMS uses whichever GPU is declared as Primary in the BIOS.
It’s an old ASUS P67 Pro board with a 2600K, the only option is to select if either PCI or PCIE is primary GPU, not which PCIE slot is primary, unfortunately. Shouldn’t matter anyways, Windows sees and knows the 1060 is primary, it’s PMS that disregards it and selects the 3080, even if the 3080 is already fully utilized doing other work. Makes no sense.
