Chromecast Audio disappears from android app but works fine via web and ipad

I have a Chromecast v1, Chromecast Ultra and just got a Chromecast Audio. They all work correctly (cast media) from the Plex Web Client, Ipad/Iphone clients and the v1 & ultra work correctly with Android. I’m having problems with the Audio (and a combined multi-room group of the audio and ultra).

Even from Android Plex has, with fiddling, cast to the Audio (and multi-room group) successfully. However, the audio and multi-room group keep disappearing from the popup cast selection menu. This does not seem to happen with the web and Iphone/Ipad clients.

I can reproduce appearance and disappearance while I’m connected to my home wifi. If I shutdown my Plex server and launch the android client and login the cast selection menu will show all the casting targets on my network. If I then startup the Plex server, the audio and multi-room targets disappear from the selection menu leaving the v1 and ultra as the only shown targets.

The Chromecast Audio and multi-room both work correctly with Play Music.

I’ve discovered a stupid work around.

Reinstall the Android app and it I can cast again to the Chromecast audio for a day, a few hours or just a moment and then it disappears again from the cast dialog listing.

This is obviously going to get annoying

I just tried reinstalling the Plex server. Uninstalling (from the QNAP NAS) and, checking that the PlexServer directory was deleted, and then installing again. Adding my libraries back.

No difference. My Chromecast Audio has disappeared again.

So this time it took 1 week for my Chromecast audio to vanish.

So, I’ve tried reinstalling Plex qnap, Plex Android and replaced the beta version of miui with stable on my mi 8. This bug also affects my old Samsung s6

Clean flashed new ROM to my phone since last post. Moving from MIUI 10.3.5 to the independent xiaomi.eu release of the same version. This is 2 clean flashes of roms.

Since this latest clean install of android I’ve had to delete all data from Plex twice to restore my android audio devices to restore usability with Plex. As stated before this does not happen on my wife’s 2 IOS devices but does happen with my old Samsung S6. Pretty lame.

Still disappearing. Doesn’t happen on Chrome Web Browser. Doesn’t happen on Ipad client…

Devs, is anyone going to reach out to help? Is there something I’m missing, which I’m supposed to do to attract these rare unicorns?
