On plex media server Version 1.2.7.2987, if secure connections is set to “required”, chromecast support does not work. All media says “Unable to cast”. This is fixed immediately if secure connections is set to “preferred”.
Chromecast is listed as supporting secure connections. I don’t want to allow insecure connections to my server. Please fix.

I know that the older models of the cCC are simply too weak (cpu-wise) to decode the encrypted data fast enough.
This happened to me this weekend when I was trying to show off my new Plex server. It was embarrassing and a real let down until I realized that I’d switched Settings > Network > Secure Connections from ‘Preferred’ to ‘Required’. I was getting the “Unable to cast” message on my TV no matter what device I tried to cast from and even after restarting both the Chromecast and the Plex server. Switching it back to ‘Preferred’ fixed the issue immediately and allowed me to cast.
I’m using the latest (non-ultra) Chromecast and I haven’t found this listed as a caveat anywhere so I have to assume that this is an issue that should be fixed.
